DESCRIPTION

Ryuichi Sakamoto's fifth solo album, released on October 5, 1985. The album consists of songs based on the concept of ''imaginary ethnic music,'' created at the request of avant-garde dancer Molissa Fenley. With an extensive use of the Fairlight CMI, the album combines artificial beauty with ethnic sounds, while incorporating noisy guitar parts by Arto Lindsay at key moments. The music defies categorization and represents the high-tech yet universal ethnic music Sakamoto aspired to create. This work, which has seen renewed appreciation in recent years as electronic and avant-garde music, is a favorite of Sakamoto himself and a crucial album in his career. Includes latest commentary by Eiichi Yoshimura in 2020, along with comments from Ryuichi Sakamoto.
