A good spinoff lifts from its inspirations; a great spinoff dares to be a little different. Sackboy: A Big Adventure certainly falls into the latter camp. Developer Sumo Digital took the already refined platforming core of LittleBigPlanet and spun it into a lovable, family-friendly romp through a colorful and imaginative world.

Winner of Best British Game and Best Family Game at the 2021 British Academy Games Awards, much of Sackboy’s distinctly English charm came from its warm, welcoming aesthetic — and, crucially, its equally warm and welcoming soundtrack (which was also nominated for a BAFTA for Best Music!).

Sackboy’s soundtrack is a hummable, whimsical sonic odyssey packed; toe to tip with delightful covers and lovely original compositions alike. It’s more than worthy of the vinyl treatment, so iam8bit is honored to team up with Sony Interactive Entertainment to immortalize it here for you.

This is the Sackboy: A Big Adventure 2xLP. On its two discs, pressed on groovy Dreamer Orb Vinyl, you’ll find twenty tracks, a sampling platter of Sackboy’s greatest hits from title theme to “The Final Showdown” and beyond. The album art is something to behold, too: Illustrator Haley bbanditt Wakefield crafted (get it?) cover art that captures Sackboy’s intrepid tiny-guy-in-a-big-world attitude. Inside, you’ll find a clever collage that actually forms a musical ledger in the shape of the game’s recurring musical riff. It’s a sweet way to acknowledge how integral music really is to Sackboy’s solo outing.
